Since its inception in 2004 SFK has been expanding rapidly throughout the New York Metropolitan Area. The 2000 census reported that 24% of the population in  New York is under the age of 18, a significant outreach potential for organizations like SFK that focus on social and emotional education for children.

Currently, SFK-NY has a presence in 4 out of the 5 Boroughs of NYC: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens. We are teaching a total of 54 classes in 13 different public school and charter school sites across these boroughs. The number of students participating in SFK and our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum this 2009/ 2010 school year will be approximately 1500.

Both the SFK (3rd- 5th grade) and SFK Youth Programs (6th-12th grade) have been receiving praise from schools and teachers around the New York City area. Please feel free to checkout our updated Testimonial Section.

Ms. Tabitha Strauss - Teacher at PS 183, Winter 2010

I have seen my students become more aware of their reactive behavior.  They are more prone to take personal responsibility during uncomfortable situations.  I see them problem solving when confrontational circumstances come up rather than come to me, another teacher or create a fight; instead, they use the SFK tools.  They begin by stopping their reactive behavior and thinking about what their ‘true voice’ would tell them.  It is really a magical experience to watch this take place.
